Church bell ringing in Codicote.

We are trying to rebuild our team of bellringers with a view to resuming ringing for Church services.

For all enquiries about bells and bellringing at St Giles, Codicote, please contact Chris Coxell: 01438 820245.

Our practice night is (most) Mondays 7:30 – 9:00 (Please check beforehand). Visitors welcome.

Visits to the tower with explanation and demonstration can be arranged at other times for individuals or club/family groups.

Usually from about 12 upwards. It is just a question of height. But it is never too late to start.

The limiting factor at Codicote is our steep spiral staircase with 33 steps. Otherwise you need only good upper body mobility. It does not require particular strength.

In other nearby Churches ringing is from the ground floor

Bellringing does not require any particular musical or mathematical ability. A sense of rhythm, co-ordination and ability to recognise patterns is an advantage.

Sunday (12th Nov) is Remembrance Sunday.
We will have our Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial in the churchyard at approximately 10.50 am, after the parade has arrived. Members of village groups and wider organisations will lay wreaths and we will remember those lost in conflict by name.
All are warmly welcomed to the special service for all ages that will follow the Act of Remembrance. There will be play mats and toys at the back of Church for younger children to use under the supervision of their parents.
We will be directing people into the churchyard through the vehicle entrance, please follow the signs, there will be stewards on hand to help. We ask that where possible people come into the churchyard, rather than stand in the road, and do not sit or lean on the churchyard wall as it is fragile and poses a safety risk, thank you.

Our Pre-School Group for Toddlers and their parents/carers is temporarily closed due to the Summer holidays and Philip's pending retirement.

BUT why not venture to St Mary's Church Welwyn, they would love to welcome you to their "Play & Praise" held on the 1st & 3rd Weds of each month @ 2pm (including holidays).
