Sunday 11th April

9:30 am Holy Communion in Church

9:30 am Eucharistic service livestreamed from the Welwyn Team

St Mary's YouTube Channel can be found here, where the livestream will appear shortly before the service begins.

It is with deep sadness that we have learned of the death of HRH The Duke of Edinburgh.
Here are two prayers you are invited to use at this time:

God of our lives,
we give thanks for the life of Prince Philip,
for the love he shared among us,
and for his devotion to duty.
We entrust him now to your love and mercy,
through our Redeemer Jesus Christ. Amen.

Merciful God, be close to all who mourn,
especially The Queen and all members of the Royal Family.
May they know the hope of your promises
and the comfort of your love,
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

National online books of condolence are being made available as a safe way for the public to leave messages of condolence. You will be able to find these on the Church of England’s website: www.churchofengland.org and www.royal.uk

We may decide to hold a special commemorative service for Prince Philip before his funeral.  Please look out for news of this both here, and via email.

Join us on 2nd May for Café Church Online!

St. Giles Cafe Church is a relaxed style of meeting which encourages conversation and reflection on a different theme each month.  Activities are offered for children.  There is a bit of music, some thought-provoking input often using pictures or video resources, and a short prayer time.  It is very open-ended - come and go as you wish.  Pre-COVID, Cafe Church met in the Peace Memorial Hall.  We are currently meeting online via Zoom. The link for this event will be shared via our mailing list, if you are not signed up and would like to join in, please email This email address is being protected from spambots. Update 2nd April 2021

Congregational singing is allowed outside again!

There has been an update from the Church of England which states that it is legitimate to give people from outside of your own household a lift to public worship, if they have no other way of getting there.

Face masks should be worn, ventilation inside the car increased (eg by opening windows a bit), and driver + passenger should distance as much as possible (eg passenger in the back, on seat diagonally opposed to driver).

We are opening the Church Building again for public worship from the 14th March. All previous safety measures (as detailed below) remain in place.

-all adults wear face masks, unless clinically exempt from doing so

-we keep 2m distance from anyone outside our own household/social bubble

-we gel our hands as we enter, and as we leave the building

-we follow a one way system to and from our seats at the start and end, and as we move forward to take Holy Communion

-we do not linger at the entrance or exit of the building to talk with others

-we do not mingle with anyone outside our own household/social bubble

Covid Scams
As the COVID vaccination programme is rolled out, please be aware that some scams are circulating by phone, text and email.  Please do not click on any links they contain.  They will lead you to a very convincing page, but at the end will ask you to pay for the vaccine.  The Government vaccination programme is free and you cannot jump the queue by paying for it.  Those who are eligible for the vaccine first will receive a letter and/or an email with an invitation to ring for an appointment.

Due to restrictions on public movement, the Parish Magazine has not be printed or circulated since March 2020, you can find the abridged online versions here - Parish Magazine
